No. 1: Welcome to the Blogs!
Let’s get started, shall we.
Most blog posts that I read are intended to be a one-way conversation. The writer tells you what he or she thinks and you can read it or not. Hopefully you learn something new.
I want my blog posts to be more of a conversation starter. After reading, I hope and expect that you will have questions, comments, even criticism if I seem to be missing your Professional Services model and perspective. I will endeavor to address such queries in a follow-up blog post, or more directly if you like through the Q&A tab/format, and then we can have a two-way conversation. Trust that I will never disclose any personally identifying information about you or your circumstances if/when I write to a broader audience of Blog readers. Again, for faster and more personalized service, you can always use the Q&A feature on this site, or schedule a free, one-on-one consulting call so we can speak directly.
By the way, the word “Blog” is a combination of the words Web and Log for those of you who may not have ever looked it up, like me, with one foot squarely in the 20th century. But here we are, on the Web, and you’ll find that each Blog posting is logged in order, also under a specific category or two, so a couple hundred postings from now you will hopefully benefit from the web-log process!
I will work to make these blog posts a dynamic part of the book reading and learning process. By the end of the first year I promise to post, on average, about 40 to 45 significant (600 to 1,200 words each) postings every 12 months. Along with working on the companion book, that should keep me pretty busy which is a good place for me. I’ll also begin to use the blog postings to share information with the G2s and G3s to help them help you (G1s) make these succession plans work.
To this end, I will complete and publish a second book in this series (Acquiring Your Future Through a Succession Plan: A Primer for Next Generation Professional Service Providers) for the next generation readers in the first half of 2025. This younger group has a unique perspective and a special set of challenges to overcome and their Lessons are different than G1s. But there can be no succession plan without these next generation owners and most plans benefit from 2 or 3 G2s for every G1. Time to get them into action!
If there are specific Lessons that you are struggling with, or I wasn’t clear enough in laying things out, let me know and I will address the issues through this Blog. When appropriate, I will even repost a rewritten Lesson here for your benefit.
All I ask, other than reading the book, is that you provide me with your basic contact information so I can keep you apprised of new blogs, new lessons, new illustrations and, of course, the next new book. I will never call you without permission, and I will not solicit you to buy something else – just not my way.
Thanks for reading, and please consider posting an honest review on the site where you bought Building With The End In Mind. I would really appreciate it – it makes a difference.
